God is love!
Hi, I'm Tiam. My family had to flee from Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, and we are still living as refugees in North Iraq. I live here with my parents and my sister. I really enjoy going to school, and English is my favorite subject, even though Kurdish language classes can be quite tough for me. My favorite color is red, and I absolutely love dogs. When it comes to food, rice is my top choice. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and reading books. At home, I help my mom by cleaning and doing the dishes.
Living in North Iraq is difficult. We've experienced so much war, and we are still suffering from its effects. While Iraq has its special qualities like our strong family bonds, rich traditions, delicious food, and celebrations, we also face many challenges. The government is unstable, jobs are hard to come by, and sometimes it's difficult to find enough food and clean water. Most people here are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, which can make it unsafe for us sometimes.
