My Story

Hi, I'm Ibrahim. My family had to flee from Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, even before I was born, and we are still living as refugees in North Iraq. I live here with my parents and my twin brother. I really enjoy going to school, and English is my favorite subject, even though I find Kurdish language classes quite tough. My favorite color is yellow, and I absolutely love birds. When it comes to food, Dolma, an Iraqi dish, is my top choice. I enjoy playing soccer with my friends whenever I can. At home, I help my mom by cleaning my room and doing the dishes.

Living in North Iraq is difficult. We've seen so much war, and we are still suffering from its effects. While Iraq has its special qualities like our strong family bonds, rich traditions, delicious food, and celebrations, we also face many challenges. The government is unstable, jobs are hard to come by, and sometimes it's difficult to find enough food and clean water. Most people here are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, which can make it unsafe for us sometimes.
