Hi, I'm Ellis. My family had to leave Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, even before I was born, and we've been living as refugees in North Iraq ever since. I share a home with my parents and my twin brother. I really enjoy school, especially Math, although I find Arabic language classes quite challenging. My favorite color is blue, and I have a special fondness for birds. When it comes to food, pizza is my absolute favorite. Playing soccer with my friends is one of my favorite activities. At home, I help my mom by keeping my room tidy and picking up my toys.
Life in North Iraq is challenging. We've experienced a lot of hardship due to the war, and its effects are still felt deeply. Despite these challenges, Iraq has a unique charm with its strong family ties, rich traditions, delicious food, and vibrant celebrations. However, we face numerous difficulties such as an unstable government, a lack of job opportunities, and sometimes even a shortage of food and clean water. Being a Christian in a predominantly Muslim country can also be unsafe at times.
