Meet Mila, a young girl whose family had to flee from Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, even before she was born. Now living as refugees in North Iraq, she shares her home with her loving parents and brother. Mila finds joy in spending time with her family. Her favorite color is pink, and she has a special love for dogs. When it comes to food, French fries are her absolute favorite. Playing with her toys is one of her favorite pastimes, and she helps her mom by collecting her toys and keeping her space tidy.
Life in North Iraq is challenging. The hardships from the war are still felt deeply by Mila and her family. Despite these difficulties, Iraq holds a special charm with its strong family ties, rich traditions, delicious food, and vibrant celebrations. However, they face numerous challenges such as an unstable government, lack of job opportunities, and sometimes even a shortage of food and clean water. Being a Christian in a predominantly Muslim country can also be unsafe at times.
