Too Young
God is love!
Basam is a cheerful and active young boy living in Northern Iraq with his parents, two sisters, and brother. Though he was born after his family fled Syria in 2014 to escape the Islamic State, he has grown up as a refugee — learning to find joy and hope in the midst of hardship.
Basam loves spending time with his friends and playing soccer — his favorite way to stay active and have fun. His favorite color is yellow, and he thinks lions are the best animals! When it comes to food, chicken is his favorite meal. At home, Basam helps his mom by picking up his toys and keeping things tidy.
Life in Iraq is full of family traditions, tasty food, and special celebrations. But it also has many challenges. The government is unstable, jobs are hard to find, and sometimes families don’t have enough food or clean water. Christians are a small minority here, and it can be unsafe at times for families like Basam’s to live out their faith.
Even with these struggles, Basam finds comfort in knowing that God loves him and will always take care of him — no matter what.
Sponsorship can help Basam continue to grow, learn, and experience the hope of a brighter future.
