God is love!
Elan is a bright and energetic young boy living in Northern Iraq with his parents and sister. His family is part of the Yazidi community and fled Syria in 2014 to escape the violence of the Islamic State — before Elan was even born. Since then, they have been living as refugees, facing daily challenges but holding onto hope for a better future.
Elan enjoys going to school, and his favorite subject is math! He loves solving problems and working with numbers. Kurdish language classes are a bit harder for him, but he does his best and keeps learning. His favorite color is blue, and he thinks lions are the coolest animals. Elan loves being outdoors, especially playing soccer with his friends and enjoying time in the fresh air.
At home, Elan helps his mom by keeping his room clean. He’s a thoughtful and responsible boy who enjoys lending a hand. His favorite hero is Batman — he admires his bravery and sense of justice.
Iraq is a place rich in tradition, family values, and festive celebrations. But for many families, especially those who are refugees or from minority groups like the Yazidis, life can be difficult. Jobs are scarce, the government is unstable, and access to food and clean water is not always guaranteed. Faith and community bring comfort, even when times are hard.
Elan finds strength in knowing that God loves him and will always care for him, no matter what. His cheerful spirit and determined heart shine through each day.
Sponsorship can help support Elan as he grows, learns, and dreams — giving him the tools he needs to thrive in the face of life’s challenges.
