The Lord's Prayer
Sharbel is a curious and kind young boy living in Northern Iraq with his parents and two brothers. His family fled Syria in 2014, before he was born, to escape the violence of the Islamic State. They have been living as refugees ever since, working hard to build a new life despite the challenges.
Sharbel enjoys school and especially loves science — it's his favorite subject! Arabic class can be a bit tough for him, but he keeps trying and gives his best. His favorite color is red, and he loves sheep — he finds them gentle and fun to watch. When it comes to food, grilled meat is his favorite meal. After school, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends and being outdoors.
At home, Sharbel helps his mom by picking up his toys and keeping things tidy — a small but important way he shows responsibility and care for his family.
Iraq is a place rich with tradition, close family bonds, and joyful celebrations. But life here can be hard, especially for refugee families. Jobs are scarce, the government is unstable, and many struggle to access food and clean water. Christians are a small minority, and it isn’t always safe to live openly as a Christian in this region.
Even in difficult times, Sharbel finds comfort in knowing that God loves him and will always take care of him. His hopeful heart and love of learning shine through every day.
Sponsorship can help give Sharbel the tools he needs to grow, thrive, and pursue a future full of possibility.
