God is love!
Matious is a cheerful and kind young boy living in Northern Iraq with his parents, brother, and two sisters. His family fled Syria in 2014 to escape the violence of the Islamic State, and they have been living as refugees ever since. Life hasn’t been easy, but Matious continues to grow, learn, and find joy in everyday moments.
Matious’s favorite subject in school is Arabic — he loves learning to read and write in his native language. Math can be a bit challenging, but he keeps working at it with a good attitude. His favorite color is green, and he loves dogs. When it comes to food, nothing makes him happier than a plate of dolma — a delicious Iraqi dish made with stuffed vegetables. Matious also enjoys swimming whenever he gets the chance.
At home, he helps his mom by keeping his room clean. He’s responsible, helpful, and always eager to lend a hand.
Iraq is a country full of family traditions, special foods, and joyful celebrations. But it also comes with many challenges — including an unstable government, limited job opportunities, and sometimes a lack of food and clean water. Christians are a small minority in Iraq, and it’s not always safe to live out one’s faith.
Even in the face of difficulty, Matious finds peace in knowing that God loves him and will always take care of him. His gentle spirit and bright smile reflect a heart full of hope.
Sponsorship can help provide Matious with the support and encouragement he needs to continue his education and build a future filled with promise.
