My Story

Albert is a kind and thoughtful young boy living in Northern Iraq with his parents and sister. His family fled Syria in 2014 to escape the Islamic State and have been living as refugees ever since. Even in the midst of hardship, Albert continues to dream of a brighter future — one where he becomes a teacher and helps others learn and grow.

Albert enjoys going to school, and Arabic is his favorite subject. He finds English class more challenging, but he continues to try his best. His favorite color is red, and he loves cats. When it comes to food, he enjoys rice the most — especially when it’s served with his favorite side: chocolate! In his free time, he loves swimming and being active.

At home, Albert helps his mom by cleaning and doing his part to care for their home. He’s responsible, respectful, and always ready to help when he can.

Life in Iraq has many beautiful aspects — from strong family traditions and delicious food to joyful celebrations. But it also presents serious challenges, especially for refugee families like Albert’s. The government is unstable, jobs are hard to find, and basic necessities like food and clean water aren’t always available. Christians are a small minority in Iraq, and it’s not always safe to practice their faith openly.

Even so, Albert finds strength in his belief that God loves him and will always care for him. That hope encourages him every day.

Sponsorship can help support Albert’s education and give him the tools he needs to grow into the compassionate teacher he hopes to be one day.
