My Story

Salpi is a bright and motivated young girl living in Baghdad, Iraq, with her parents, two sisters, and brother. Her family fled their home in 2014 to escape the Islamic State and have lived as refugees ever since. Despite the hardships they’ve faced, Salpi remains full of hope and dreams of becoming a teacher one day.

She is doing well in all of her classes at school and especially enjoys learning. Her favorite color is pink, and she loves rabbits — they’re her favorite animal! When it comes to food, pizza is at the top of her list. In her free time, Salpi enjoys swimming and listening to music — things that help her relax and bring her joy.

At home, Salpi helps her mother by cleaning and doing her part to care for the family. She’s thoughtful, responsible, and always eager to help.

Iraq is a country filled with beautiful traditions, strong family ties, and joyful celebrations. But for refugee families like Salpi’s, life also comes with serious challenges — political instability, a lack of job opportunities, and limited access to food and clean water. Christians are a small minority in Iraq, and it’s not always safe to practice their faith openly.

Even with these struggles, Salpi finds strength in knowing that God loves her and will always be there for her. Her faith gives her peace, and her determination helps her keep moving forward.

Sponsorship can help Salpi continue her education and move toward her dream of becoming a teacher — bringing light and hope to others just like her.
