My Story

My name is Meran. My family fled Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, before I was born, and now we live in North Iraq as refugees. I live with my parents, my brother, and my sister. This region has experienced many years of war, so life can be difficult, and many families like ours are still struggling.

Even with these challenges, I enjoy many things in my life. I like kickboxing and staying active, and when I grow up, I hope to become a policeman. My favorite color is yellow, and I like cats. At home, I try to help my mom by picking up my toys and helping around the house.

Iraq is a special place where people love their families, traditions, good food, and celebrations. But there are also many problems, like an unstable government, few jobs, and sometimes it is hard to find enough food and clean water.

Most people in Iraq are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, so it is not always safe to be a Christian here. I like hearing about how much God loves me, and it comforts me to know that He will always take care of me.
