Syria

God is love!
My name is Khalil, and I live in North Iraq with my parents, my sister, and my brother. My family fled Syria in 2014 because of the Islamic State, before I was born, and we are still living here as refugees. This area has experienced many years of war, and many families like mine are still suffering because of it.
I enjoy going to school and spending time playing with my friends. My favorite color is white, and I think lions are amazing animals. One of my favorite things to do is play soccer whenever I can.
At home, I try to help my mom by cleaning my room and keeping things neat. Even though life can be difficult, Iraq is special to us. People here love their families, traditions, good food, and celebrating together.
There are also many challenges, like an unstable government, very few jobs, and sometimes it is hard to find enough food and clean water. Most people in Iraq are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, so it is not always safe to be a Christian here. I like hearing about how God loves me, and it makes me feel hopeful to know that He will always take care of me.
