Iraq

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12
My name is Steven. My family fled the Islamic State in 2014, and we are still living as refugees in North Iraq. I live with my parents, my sister, and my brother. This region has experienced many years of war, and many families like mine are still struggling because of it.
I enjoy going to school, and Math is my favorite subject. Arabic classes can be difficult for me sometimes, but I keep trying to improve. My favorite color is yellow, and I really like dogs. One of my favorite foods is kabab, a popular Iraqi dish. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and swimming.
At home, I help my family by cleaning and doing small chores around the house. Even though life can be hard, Iraq is still a special place where people value their families, traditions, good food, and celebrations.
There are many challenges here, such as an unstable government, very few jobs, and sometimes it is difficult for families to find enough food and clean water. Most people in Iraq are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, so it is not always safe to be a Christian here. I like hearing about how much God loves me, and it gives me hope to know that He will always take care of me.
