My Story

My name is Andro, and I live in North Iraq with my parents, my sister, and my brother. My family fled from the Islamic State in 2014, and we are still living here as refugees. This region has experienced many years of war, and many families like mine are still suffering and trying to rebuild their lives.

I go to school and enjoy learning. My favorite subject is Math, although Arabic classes can be difficult for me sometimes. My favorite color is yellow, and I really like dogs. Pizza is my favorite food. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and swimming with my friends.

When I grow up, I hope to become a doctor so I can help people who are sick. At home, I try to help my family by cleaning and doing small chores around the house.

Even though life can be hard, Iraq is a special place where people love their families, traditions, good food, and celebrations. There are also many challenges, like an unstable government, few jobs, and sometimes it is difficult for families to find enough food and clean water.

Most people in Iraq are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, so it is not always safe to be a Christian here. I like hearing about how much God loves me, and it gives me comfort to know that He will always take care of me.
