My Story

My name is Fadi, and I live in North Iraq with my parents and my sister. My family fled the Islamic State in 2014, and we are still living here as refugees. This area has gone through many years of war, and many families like mine continue to face difficult circumstances.

I go to school and enjoy learning, especially Arabic, which is my favorite subject. Math can be challenging for me, but I keep trying to improve. My favorite color is yellow, and I think lions are very strong and impressive animals. I really like chocolate, and it is my favorite treat. In my free time, I enjoy swimming and playing soccer.

At home, I help my family by working in our small garden and doing what I can to help. Even though life can be hard sometimes, Iraq is still special to us. People here value their families, traditions, good food, and celebrating together.

There are also many struggles in our country. The government is not stable, jobs can be hard to find, and sometimes families have difficulty finding enough food and clean water. Most people in Iraq are Muslims, and there are very few Christians, so it is not always safe to be a Christian here. I like hearing that God loves me, and it gives me peace to know that He will always take care of me.
