My Story

Hi, my name is Afrayem. My family had to leave Sudan because of the war, and now we live as refugees in Cairo, Egypt. My dad abandoned us, so my mom takes care of me, my two brothers, and my three sisters all by herself.

I go to kindergarten and I love playing soccer with my friends. I like to help my mom too, I go with her to buy things we need for our house. Yellow is my favorite color, dogs are my favorite animal, and pizza is my favorite food to eat. Superman is my favorite superhero!

Sudan used to be part of Egypt, and it has more pyramids than Egypt does. My capital city, Khartoum, is where the Blue Nile and White Nile rivers come together to make the Nile River. But the war split my country in two, and that's why my family had to run away.

Most people in Egypt are Muslim, and there are only a few Christians. It isn't always safe to be a Christian here. Through the Child Sponsorship Program, I'm getting loving care and biblical discipleship, and I feel safe and encouraged to grow.
