God is love!
Basima and her family were forced to flee from the Islamic State in 2014 and have since sought refuge in North Iraq. They currently reside as refugees, with Basima living with her parents, three brothers, and sister. Despite the challenging circumstances, Basima finds solace in her education, particularly enjoying Arabic as her favorite subject, although she encounters difficulties with Math classes. Pink is the color that brightens her day, and she holds a special fondness for cats as her preferred animal companions. When it comes to satisfying her palate, she can't resist the delicious taste of dolma, a traditional Iraqi dish.
Basima's leisure time is filled with joy as she engages in playful activities with her friends. However, she also takes on responsibilities at home by assisting her mother with household chores, including keeping her room clean and aiding in the laundry duties.
Living as a refugee in Iraq presents its unique challenges, even though the country holds great significance to Basima. It is a place where rich traditions, delectable cuisine, and vibrant celebrations thrive. Nevertheless, Iraq faces numerous issues, such as political instability, limited job opportunities, and access to basic necessities like food and clean water. It is important to note that while the majority of the population practices Islam, there is a small Christian minority. Unfortunately, being a Christian in certain circumstances can present safety concerns.
Despite the adversities, Basima and her family draw strength from their resilience, unity, and the love they share. They remain steadfast in navigating the obstacles they encounter, striving to create a better future for themselves.
