Egypt
Widow / Single Mother
9th
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. Psalms 23:1
I'm Youssef, and here in Egypt, it's just my mom, my brother, and me, living near the Nile River in a village surrounded by sprawling farms. Despite the challenges of my mom being widowed and unemployed, our tight-knit family brings us happiness and strength.
School is my playground, especially when it comes to Math class. English, however, gives me a run for my money. Blue is the color that soothes my soul, and dogs are my ultimate companions. And when it's time to eat, nothing beats the satisfaction of chicken on my plate before hitting the soccer field with my buddies.
Back at home, I lend a hand to my mom by tagging along for grocery shopping and helping her with the heavy bags. It may be a small gesture, but it's my way of showing support. As for my favorite biblical tale, the story of Joshua fuels my spirit with its message of courage and faith.
In our Egyptian community, family bonds are cherished, and simple joys like good food and shared laughter with friends are our treasures. Though being Christian in a predominantly Muslim society has its challenges, the unwavering love of God keeps me grounded and hopeful.
