My Story

Anjlina's family had to flee from the Islamic State in 2014, even before she was born, and they have been living as refugees in North Iraq ever since. Together with her parents and sister, she resides in Iraq and is currently attending kindergarten. Red is Anjlina's favorite color, and she finds dogs to be the most endearing animal companions. When it comes to food, nothing beats the satisfaction of sinking her teeth into a juicy burger. Playing with her friends fills her days with joy and laughter.

In her own small way, Anjlina contributes to her family by lending a helping hand to her mom around the house. Whether it's gathering her toys or tidying up her surroundings, she takes pride in assisting with the daily chores.

Life as a refugee in Iraq poses its own set of challenges. Despite the love for family, cherished traditions, and the enjoyment of delicious food and lively celebrations, the people of Iraq face numerous difficulties. An unstable government, limited job opportunities, and occasional scarcity of essential resources like food and clean water cast shadows on their daily lives. It's important to note that Iraq has a predominantly Muslim population, with Christians being a minority, and being a Christian can sometimes present safety concerns in certain situations.

Nevertheless, Anjlina finds solace in her faith and the belief that God loves and cares for her unconditionally. This unwavering devotion and trust in God's providence serve as a source of comfort and strength amidst the hardships of being a refugee.

Anjlina's story reflects the resilience and determination of refugees in Iraq. They navigate through adversity with courage and hold onto the values that are dear to them. Despite the challenges they face, they strive for a better future, drawing strength from the love of their families, the richness of their traditions, and the spirit of celebration that binds their community together.
